On Season 4 of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, the British-born outdoors adventurer invites American professional dancer Derek Hough (Dancing with The Stars, World of Dance) on a whirlwind challenge across the mountains of Bulgaria. The Balkan nation is known for its traditional folk dancing. (Nestinarstvo, a barefoot dance performed as a fire ritual, is in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists!) But the country is perhaps better known for its diverse terrain which includes the Danube and Black Sea coastline.

While in Bulgaria, Bear encourages the former Dancing with the Stars champion and current World of Dance judge to drop amid snow-capped peaks and eat what looks like a frog, among other things. Somehow, Hough’s hair remains perfectly coiffed. See photo above. Running Wild with Bear Grylls airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
