On the Grey’s Anatomy episode “Fight for Your Mind,” while Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) gives a presentation on her mini-livers project, Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) go on a road trip. They’re headed to Iowa to find Alex’s mom –he hasn’t seen or heard from her in a long time. When they pull into her driveway, Jo warns Alex “Don’t assume the worst,” but he does. “Either my mom is roaming the streets in her nightgown,” Alex tells Jo, “or she’s dead and no one thought to tell me.” Helen Karev is portrayed by Lindsay Wagner.

Lindsay Wagner is best known for her role Jaime Sommers on The Six-Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman and in the movies The Return of the Six-Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman and Bionic Showdown (with Sandra Bullock!) in the 1980s. Most recently, Wagner had a recurring role as Dr. Vanessa Calder on the sci-fi series Warehouse 13. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC, right before Station 19.
