In the Bar Rescue episode “Caving In,” Jon Taffer travels to Anaheim, California to meet Maria, the owner of The Cave Sports Bar. She and her son Jaime are at odds on how to save their bar which is $200,000 in debt. When the mother steps away, according to Bar Rescue, the son “runs the bar into the ground.” He has untrained employees behind the bar, serving shots to customers who didn’t ask for them, over pouring (they’re serving 5 ounce shots), and helping themselves to shots right out of the bottle, too.
When Taffer walks in he confronts Jaime and asks him if he understands that his mother could lose her house. He asks him if he trained the staff. Taffer isn’t happy with his “excuses” and tells Jaime, “You don’t take ownership of this failure.” Taffer proceeds to call him “a lazy a–hole” and yells at him, “Grow up!” As of February 2018, The Cave Sports Bar is still in business and Jaime (Juan A) is replying to comments left on Yelp, good and bad (see links below). And they’re opening a second location about 5 miles away in Garden Grove, California this spring. New episodes of Bar Rescue air Sundays at 10pm on Paramount Network.
