The 48 Hours episode “Lorenzen Wright: No Defense,” investigates the murder of NBA basketball player Lorenzen Wright. The 34-year-old athlete went missing on July 18, 2010. His body was found days later in the woods near his home in Collierville, Tennessee. He had been shot (11 times) to death. Seven years after Wright’s death, the gun used was found in a lake in Mississippi. Soon after, church deacon Billy R. Turner was indicted on first degree murder, and Wright’s ex-wife Sherra Wright-Robinson (a member of Turner’s church, and mother of Wright’s seven children) was arrested in connection with the murder. Both defendants, Turner and Wright-Robinson, are being tried together.

In 2015, Wright-Robinson wrote a fictional book, “Mr. Tell Me Anthony,” based on true stories. It’s about a basketball player from Mississippi who marries an older woman and makes it in the NBA, becomes an overnight millionaire, cheats on her, and physically abuses her. Wright-Robinson said she fictionalized some things for “legal purposes.” She also said she was working on writing a sequel where the central character is murdered. 48 Hours airs Saturdays at 9pm and 10pm on CBS.
