In the Timeless episode “Mrs. Sherlock Holmes,” the Time Team is sent back to 1919 New York City. Their job is to help prove the innocence of suffragette Alice Paul (Erica Dasher) who’s been accused of murder and is being held in custody. If Alice Paul doesn’t give her famous speech, who knows when women will get the right to vote. (Thanks in part to Alice Paul’s efforts, in 1920, the Nineteenth Amendment secured the vote for American women.) The team works with legendary female crime solver Grace Humiston aka Mrs. Sherlock Holmes.

Grace Humiston is portrayed by Sarah Sokolovic. The Yale School of Drama graduate is known for her roles on Big Little Lies (Joseph Bachman’s wife Tori Bachman — who’s becoming a series regular in Season 2 with fellow Yale alum Meryl Streep!), Homeland (Laura Sutton), and The Good Wife (Mary Jane Heidel), among others. Timeless airs Sundays at 10pm on NBC.
