On the When Calls the Heart episode “My Heart Is Yours,” the day has finally come for Jack (Daniel Lissing) and Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) to get married. When Elizabeth’s father William Thatcher (Garwin Sanford) arrives in town, a smiling Elizabeth admits that she’s a little nervous. William tells his daughter not to worry. “You’re marrying a good man and he’s devoted to you,” he says. Elizabeth is delighted to hear his approval. Elizabeth’s father then surprises her with a gift. He presents her with a dark blue velvet box. Inside is a headpiece, a delicate wreath made with white pearls. Williams tells Elizabeth, “Your mother wants you to wears it on your wedding day,” just like she did on her wedding day. That’s right, Elizabeth’s mother Grace Thatcher won’t be at big wedding. The last time Hearties saw Grace Thatcher on the show was in the 2015 episode “With All My Heart,” when Elizabeth returned to Hamilton to check on her ailing mother. See photo below.
Grace Thatcher was portrayed by Canadian-born actress Lynda Boyd. Watch for Boyd in the new FX drama Trust about the Getty family, starring Donald Sutherland as oil tycoon J. Paul Getty. Boyd plays Jacqueline Getty, the wife of Sutherland’s grandson, Peter Getty. In real life, Jacqueline and Peter divorced in 2010. Jacqui demanded $314k a month for living expenses. Trust premieres Sunday, March 25 at 10pm on FX. When Calls the Heart airs Sundays at 9pm on Hallmark.
