During the last round of The Voice Blind Auditions, the judges will battle it out for 24-year-old Sharane Calister from Des Moines, Iowa. While singing “Make It Rain” (the Foy Vance song that Ed Sheeran made famous on Sons of Anarchy in 2014), Sharane makes judge Alicia Keys hit her button. When Alicia yells at the other judges to hit their buttons too, Kelly Clarkson says, “We’re not going to have a chance.” But at the very last minute, Clarkson does hit her button. Sharane reveals that she was adopted and that she and her twin sister got separated. As Sharane said, “I just put all of that pain into my music.” (They reunited when 18.) The opening lyrics of “Make It Rain” are: “When the sins of my father / Weigh down in my soul / And the pain of my mother / Will not let me go.”

Clarkson said that kind of story, “That’s what makes great artists, having all those hurdles.” Clarkson then lightens the conversation by asking if Sharane’s twin sister sings too, and asks if she’ll be on her team! The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
