The My 600-lb Life episode “Renee’s Story” is about Renee Biran, a wife and mother of six children. The former plus-size model now weighs 631 lbs. (There are still several photos of Renee in sexy poses on Facebook. The one below is the most demure.) Like many of the obese people featured on My 600-lb Life, Renee had a traumatic childhood. Renee is a product of her mother’s affair with her best friend’s husband. Renee says having a different father than her siblings meant she felt like an outcast in her own family.
According to Renee, her mother was ashamed of the affair and pregnancy and took it out on Renee. In the episode, Renee makes a shocking admission. At the age of 9, she says her stepfather had started molesting her, and her mother had witnessed it. By the time she was 11, Renee weighed 200 lbs. Now 52 years old, Renee says, “It hurt me as a child to feel like my mom wouldn’t protect me.” Luckily for Renee, she has a supportive husband and kids to help her seek the help she needs. My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8pm TLC.
