In The Good Doctor episode “She,” at work Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) is surprised to learn that his young cancer patient identifies as a girl while being biologically male. After a long day at work, Shaun returns home to watch TV (really close to the screen), and gets a visit from his grungy neighbor in apartment 34, Lea’s old apartment. Together they decide to go downstairs to the swimming pool. Shaun jumps in while his neighbor watches.
Shaun’s neighbor is portrayed by Chris D’Elia. The tall (6’3″) stand-up comedian is known for his roles on Undateable (Danny), Whitney (Whitney Cummings’s live-in boyfriend Alex), Glory Daze (Bill Stankowski), and Chicago Hope (Luke Sarison), among others. D’Elia is also recognized for his role as Snow White in the 2012 film Celeste & Jesse Forever. Fun fact: His father is TV producer Bill D’Elia (photo below), who’s been nominated for 8 Emmys (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope). The Good Doctor airs Mondays at 10pm on ABC.
