In the Lethal Weapon episode “An Inconvenient Ruth,” Murtaugh (Damon Wayans Sr.) and Riggs (Clayne Crawford) are in hot pursuit of a local jewelry thief. Meanwhile, Riggs deals with withdrawal from drinking and ends up in a fancy hotel room with an older woman, a redhead named Ruthie. It’s not what you think!
Ruthie is portrayed by Swoosie Kurtz. She’s known for her roles on Man with a Plan (Matt LeBlanc’s mother Beverly), Mike & Molly (Melissa McCarthy’s mother Joyce), Pushing Daisies (Lily), Sisters (Alex), and Love, Sidney with the late great Tony Randall (next-door neighbor Laurie; see photo below), among others. Kurtz is also well recognized for her roles in the films Cruel Intentions (Dr. Greenbaum), Liar Liar (Jim Carrey’s opposing lawyer Dana Appleton), Reality Bites (Charlane), Dangerous Liaisons (Madame de Volanges), Bright Lights, Big City (Megan), and Against All Odds (Edie). Lethal Weapon airs Tuesdays at 8pm on FOX, right before LA to Vegas.
