In the Lethal Weapon episode “Diggin’ Up Dirt,” while Murtaugh (Damon Wayans, Sr.) tries to butter up Captain Avery (Kevin Rahm) for a promotion, his partner Riggs (Clayne Crawford) visits his father-in-law in prison. His name is Ronnie Delgado. Their conversation stirs a lot of memories about Riggs’ late wife Miranda (Floriana Lima) and reveals an old secret about her.
Father-in-law Ronnie is portrayed by Tony Plana. The Cuban-born actor is known for his roles on Madam Secretary (admiral Ed Parker), The Fosters (Victor), The Young Pope (Carlos Garcia), Desperate Housewives (Alejandro), Ugly Betty (Betty’s father Ignacio Suarez, see link above), and Resurrection Blvd. (Roberto Santiago), among many others. Plana is also well recognized for his roles in the films Roman J. Israel, Esq. with Denzel Washington, Three Amigos (Jefe), Primal Fear, and Nixon. Fun fact: Plana made his TV debut on a 1978 episode of What’s Happening!! Lethal Weapon airs Tuesdays at 8pm on FOX, right before LA to Vegas starring mustached Dylan McDermott.
