On the fifth episode of Season 22 of The Bachelor, 29-year-old Chelsea Roy of South Portland, Maine receives the first one-on-one date with Arie Luyendyk Jr. The Bachelor swoops in to take the real estate agent on a 100-foot luxury yacht in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. But as ABC teases, the single mom’s “checkered past may endanger her getting a rose.”

Checkered past? We’ll see. But what we know about Chelsea’s present is pretty cool, that’s for sure. Especially her feminist credentials, something not quite usual on The Bachelor. When single mom Chelsea isn’t on TV, she’s working as a realtor at the female-owned Townsend Real Estate company headquartered in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The company has an all-female staff of 13. But Chelsea’s employer is not just a real estate company, Townsend is also an art gallery. Every two or three months Townsend installs a new exhibition of student art from Maine College of Art. The Townsend Art Gallery is current showing the work of local photographer, Karen Merritt. The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
