In the Family Guy episode “Three Directors,” Peter Griffin (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) gets fired from his job at the brewery. Not once but three times. Each firing is depicted in the signature style of three different Hollywood movie directors. It’s a special episode that honors the late actress Carrie Fisher who since 2005, has voiced the character Angela, Peter’s lonely boss at the brewery. It’s been a bittersweet relationship. Over the past 11 years, Angela has sexually harassed Peter, and Peter once saved her from committing suicide. “Three Directors” is the last Family Guy episode Fisher recorded before passing away suddenly in December 2016 at the age of 60.
[Fisher’s memoir The Princess Diarist came out one month prior to her death]
Carrie Fisher, daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, is known for her roles on Star Wars (Princess Leia), The Blues Brothers (Mystery Woman), Hannah and Her Sisters (April), and When Harry Met Sally (Marie), among others. Fun facts: She wrote the semi-autobiographical novel-turned-film Postcards from the Edge (Meryl Streep played Fisher; Shirley MacLaine player her mother), and she was briefly married to singer Paul Simon (1983-1984), whose music was influenced by her. Family Guy airs Sundays at 9pm on FOX.
