In The Middle episode “Thanksgiving IX,” the Hecks hightail it to Frankie’s (Patricia Heaton) sister house for Thanksgiving. But during their family road trip, they hit a couple of bumps in the road, metaphorically speaking. When it comes time to pay the cashier at a gas station, all three kids (Atticus Shaffer, Eden Sher, Charlie McDermott) chip in.
The cashier is portrayed by Johnny Downs. The Louisiana-born actor is known for his roles The Bridge (Detective Tim Cooper), Anger Management (Ray James), and in the films Pickin’ & Grinn’ (JohnnyJake Johnson) and in the 2015 Chris Cornell music video “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart,” among others. In the video, Downs plays the preacher. Oscar nominated actor Eric Roberts stars, too. Eerie video of the late Cornell below. The Middle airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC, right before Fresh off the Boat.
