Julianna Margulies, the former star of The Good Wife and ER has announced her new project. She will be featured in the new AMC series Dietland, based on the 2015 bestselling novel of the same title by Sarai Walker. Margulies will play Kitty Montgomery, a New York City magazine editor “whose world is thrown into chaos when a feminist terrorist organization starts targeting people in her orbit.”
[Dietland was named Best Book of the Year by EW]
Dietland director Marti Noxon (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) says Margulies is perfect for the role. “She’s a special human and a rare actor,” said Noxon. But Margulies isn’t technically the star of the show, Joy Nash (The Mindy Project) is. She plays Plum Kettle, an obsessive woman who’s preparing for weight loss surgery. Shooting begins in November in New York, AMC expects to premiere the Dietland series in 2018.
