Jack Napier is a reasonable man; The Joker is not, due to his obsession with a certain caped crusader. But it doesn’t have to be this way, we learn in Batman: White Knight #2. There’s a pharmaceutical cure — some madness meds — for The Joker’s insanity and he’s got his hands on the dope dope. But a Napier less insane doesn’t mean a peaceful Gotham. (Not with a crazed and violent Batman around anyway.) And Napier’s mental sturdiness ain’t good news either for The Joker’s romance with Harley Quinn — or is it? Not if you think a foot to the gut is crazy sexy petting, because that’s what Napier gets for his journey on the straight and narrow path. But that’s from one Harley Quinn. How many are there?
Because that’s not all, as they say in the infomercials. Creator Sean Murphy has another presence at the scene — and it looks like the older Harley, red/black suit and all. And this Harley Quinn would never kick the Joker for getting in touch with his better self, with Jack, that is. It’s a tease of old Harley and new Jack — or old Jack returned. Murphy has expressed his fondness for and allegiance to Batman: The Animated Series. Looks like that will be manifest going forward.
