Hodges Half Dozen is TLC’s new multiple-baby reality show. Similar to OutDaughtered (the show that features Danielle and Adam Busbys and their six daughters including quintuplets, the Hodges (also of Texas) have added quintuplets to their family of three. Liz and Daniel Hodges’ eldest is 2-year-old son Rowan. Of the Hodges quints: there’s one girl and four boys. While Adam and Danielle Busby are entrepreneurs, Daniel is trying to finish up his second year in medical school. Liz is (was) a pediatric oncology nurse. She says she’d love to be a full-time mom, “but we’ll see,” she says.
The premiere episode shows Liz have an emergency c-section at 26 weeks. (They were trying to get to the 32 week mark.) One of the babies (“Baby B”) had difficulty breathing after he was born and was tended to quickly by the hospital staff. Daniel says in retrospect, “I felt like God was getting me ready to lose one of them.” Similar to the attitude of Danielle Busby, Liz says, “We’re going to get through it because we have to.” They’ve come a long way from when they first met. A friend set them up on a blind date. Daniel said, “She didn’t like me at first.” Liz said, “He was very persistent.” They dated for more than three years before they got married in 2012. Hodges Half Dozen airs Tuesdays at 10pm on TLC.
