In the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World episode “Brutal Acts of Kindness,” Kevin (Jason Ritter) meets Emily, a single mom with a sick son, Max. Emily needs help paying Max’s medical bills. And while Kevin offers Emily money, money won’t solve all of her problems. Emily’s ex-husband is a pretty big problem, too, and Kevin thinks it’s a good idea to approach the man and talk to him about Max. (Spoiler: It’s not.)
The mom Emily is portrayed by Beth Lacke. The Wisconsin native and DePaul University grad is known for her roles on Frequency (Meghan Womack), Work It (Connie Standish), and Happy Hour (Amanda Pennington), among others. Lacke is also recognized for her roles in the films Teen Beach 2 (Brady’s mom) and Mr. 3000 with the late Bernie Mac (she plays the Pilates instructor). If you (just for a moment) confused Lacke with thirtysomething actress Mel Harris — you’re not alone! Kevin (Probably) Saves the World airs Tuesdays at 10pm on ABC.
