In the Great News episode “Night of the Living Screen,” MMN producer Katie (Briga Heelan) goes to a very cool Halloween party with hip anchorwoman Portia (Nicole Richie). Katie doesn’t do it to have a good time but to post photos on Instagram with the hope of impressing her friends in the suburbs. It’s Katie’s way of proving that her life working her way up at MMN is better than their married-with-kids lifestyle. One of those friends is Jessica, who is the guest of honor at a gender reveal party in New Jersey. (She’s the one wearing the gender-neutral colored yellow dress.)
Jessica is portrayed by Cecily Strong. She’s known for her roles on Superstore (Olympic gymnast Missy Jones), and her years on Saturday Night Live as Weekend Update Anchor, among others. Strong is also recognized for her roles in the films Ghostbusters (Jennifer Lynch), and The Bronze with Melissa Rauch (Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory). Great News airs Thursdays at 9:30pm on NBC.
