In The Goldbergs episode “Goldberg on the Goldbergs,” when Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) finds out about Coach Mellor’s (Bryan Callen) strained relationship with his brother Coach Nick, she intervenes and declares a face off. Her sons, Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Barry (Troy Gentile), each side with one of the coaches who end up physically fighting.
Coach Nick is portrayed by pro-wrestler Bill Goldberg. Yes, Goldberg! The 6’4″ 266 lbs. Goldberg is a professional wrestler. Before wrestling (WCW and WWE), Goldberg played professional football. After playing as a defensive tackle for the University of Georgia Bulldogs, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1990 NFL draft. Goldberg’s football career ended after an injury in 1995. As an actor, Goldberg is known for his roles in the films The Longest Yard (Battle) and Santa’s Slay (Santa), among others. In 2010 he competed on Season 9 of Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice (Brett Michaels won). The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8pm on ABC.
