On the Family Guy episode “Follow the Money,” Chris receives a special dollar bill for his birthday. But it doesn’t take him long to lose it. Throughout the episode, the dollar passes from one character to another in Quahog. Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds voices himself. The key plot element — the circulating dollar — loosely resembles the plot of the interesting 1993 movie Twenty Bucks with a diverse cast including Elisabeth Shue, Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, David Schwimmer, Linda Hunt, Spalding Gray, and Gladys Knight, among many others. In that movie the action follows a $20 bill as it gets passed around. Film critic Roger Ebert called Twenty Bucks a “wonderment” and “beguiling.” That’s what a lot of fans call Ryan Reynolds, too. It’s so perfectly Family Guy that they are following a buck instead of a twenty.

It’s as hard to follow Reynold’s frenzy of activity these days as it is to follow a dollar. Days before the Family Guy episode airs, Reynolds posted a photo of him on the set of Deadpool 2 with stuntman-turned-director David Leitch. Reynolds announced to his 14 million followers on Instagram:”That’s a wrap on DEADPOOL 2: A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE!” They filmed in Reynolds’ hometown of Vancouver, Canada. Family Guy airs Sundays at 9pm on FOX, right after Ghosted.
