On the Season 8 premiere of Love & Hip Hop, Remy Ma talks about being nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist (by the BET Awards). Remy says now that she’s been nominated (her rival Nicki Minaj has won the title for the past seven years!), she wants to “make a statement” and stop all the “pettiness” in the industry. Remy Ma says she’s “on the right path” and wants women to come together. That’s why she’s hosting Unity, a female networking party on the rooftop in Midtown. DJ Self is at the turntable. And Remy’s husband Papoose says he’s proud. Remy tells her female friends at the party, “It’s overdue.”

However, in June when Remy did win the title of Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards, Remy reignited her feud with Nicki Minaj. After thanking her friends and family for their support while she made her comeback (and while she was in prison for six years after shooting a woman in the stomach), Remy performed a quick rap on stage which Rolling Stone described as a subliminal diss to the “No Frauds” singer Minaj. The last lines of the rap were: “Y’all some liars it ain’t no facts in your songs/And yeah, that crown is coming back to the Bronx.” Remy Ma’s second solo album, Seven Winters, Six Summers will be released in 2018. Love & Hip Hop airs Mondays at 8pm on VH1.
