ABC 20/20 has exclusive interviews with former FBI agent Thomas Martens, 67, and his daughter Molly Martens Corbett, 33. Both were found guilty of murdering Molly’s 39-year-old husband, Jason Corbett in August 2015. Both continue to claim self-defense as they thought Thomas Martens was trying to kill them. When Martens called 911 that night he said, “He [Jason] was choking my daughter, he [Jason] said, ‘I’m going to kill her.'”

On 20/20, Molly Martens Corbett recalls the evening her husband died. She said 8-year-old daughter Sarah had a nightmare and woke Molly. After returning the child to her bed, Molly returned to her bedroom where her husband awoke and “was angry.” Molly says Thomas “was just furious because Sarah had been doing this lately, and ‘she just wanted to be coddled, and she was too old for that'”. Molly said her husband accused her of “treating the kids like babies.” Molly tells 20/20 that knowing her parents were staying in the house gave her more courage to stand up for herself than she typically would have.” Molly said, “He forgot my parents were there.” Molly’s father said he heard loud voices and a thumping coming from the floor above me. He said, “something bad was going on so I grabbed that little league baseball bat and I ran upstairs.” Both father and daughter received a minimum of 20 years, maximum of 25 years sentence. When Molly heard the verdict, she was heard saying, “I’m really sorry to my mom, he should have just killed me.” 20/20 airs Fridays at 10pm on ABC.
