From 1977 to 1983, two of the most popular stars on TV were Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox. The two actors played police officers, partners on motorcycles on CHiPs (which stands for California Highway Patrol). More than 30 years later, Estrada (“Ponch”) and Wilcox (John) are reuniting to compete on The Battle of the Network Stars.

Since then Estrada has appeared on several TV shows (The Bold and the Beautiful, Eduardo Dominguez) and films including The Naked Truth (Gonzales), among many others. When not on a set, Estrada has been seen patrolling a beat. In 2008, CBS News reported that Estrada was a full-time deputy sheriff in Bedford County, Virginia, and a reserve police officer in Indiana where he worked 96 hours a year on the street. The Battle of the Network Stars airs Thursdays at 9pm on ABC.
