Professional bodybuilder and world record power lifter Stan Efferding (aka The White Rhino) pitched his workout cooler The Kooler on Shark Tank in February 2017. He made a deal with Daymond John — $50,000 for 33.3 percent equity in The Kooler business. During his pitch, Efferding proved his credentials in the field by turning over a 800 lb. tire and lifting a 200 lb. dumbbell over his head.

In the deleted scene below, Daymond John asks Efferding if the dumbbell is real. When Efferding says yes, John asks if he can try it. Lori Greiner advises John not to do it but he does try. John does get the dumbbell off the ground — an inch or two — before dropping it. “That’s real,” he says as he returns to his chair. “Now that I’ve ripped my sack, why don’t you hand out the samples,” which has Greiner laughing out loud.
Before making an offer, you have to test the legitimacy of the entrepreneur & his props.
