Guitar hero and conservative troll/firebrand Ted Nugent has finally — “at the tender age of 69” — listened to his wife who has told him to dial back the violent rhetoric. Nugent, who became famous in the 1970s for his outrageous rock star persona and the radio staple “Cat Scratch Fever,” has said Hillary Clinton should be hanged. He repeatedly made vicious comments about Barack Obama filled with such violent imagery that the secret service visited Nugent.
But after several conservative congressmen were shot at baseball practice this week, Nugent is taking is wife’s advice. She says he can’t use such “harsh terms.” Talking on WABC Radio’s Curtis & Eboni show, Nugent said he’s going to “back it down” though he’ll still be “fiesty.” In the future he’ll abstain from saying “anything that can be interpreted as condoning or referencing violence,” Nugent said.
