In the Great News episode ‘Snowmageddon of the Century’, a massive snowstorm traps everyone in the news building overnight. While Katie (Briga Heelan) is convinced by Portia (Nicole Richie) that anchorman Chuck (John Michael Higgins) is interested in her romantically, Katie’s mother Carol (Andrea Martin) breaks into the offices of TV morning show hosts Kelly and Mary-Kelly to snatch their coveted wine.
Kelly and Mary-Kelly are portrayed by former SNL cast members Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch, respectively. Since SNL, Gasteyer has appeared on The Goldbergs (Miss Cinoman), The Good Wife (Judge Patrice Lessner) and Suburgatory (Sheila Shay), among others. Dratch is currently providing the voice of Imaginary Mary the new sitcom starring Jenna Elfman. Great News airs Tuesdays at 9pm and 9:30pm on NBC.
