One of the most powerful dramas on TV is back – American Crime. The third season addresses forced labor and sex trafficking. As usual for the series, the storylines run and collide. One involves social worker Kimara Walters (Regina King) who is trying to help teen prostitute Shae (Ana Mulvoy-Ten) turn on her pimp. Kimara works with Abby Tanaka, who is trying to protect the 39 percent of farm workers in the North Carolina tomato fields who are being illegally trafficked or abused.

Abby is portrayed by Sandra Oh. She’s known for her roles on Grey’s Anatomy (Dr. Cristina Yang) and in the films Sideways (Stephanie), Under the Tuscan Sun (Patti), and Hard Candy (Judy Tokua), among others. Oh’s most recent film is Catfight – it’s about a reignited rivalry between two college friends who run into each other at a fancy party. One is successful (Oh’s character), the other is not (Anne Heche). Punches are thrown, tides turn, and hilarity ensues. American Crime airs Sundays at 10pm on ABC.
