If Chelsea Clinton is getting more attention for her tweets lately, it’s because she’s increased both their volume and the sense of outrage in her voice. (The former first daughter is averaging ten tweets a day of late, with sharper edges than she used to show.) The reason for Clinton’s new tweet frequency and style is as easy to explain as it is inevitable: from Clinton’s progressive vantage point, the Donald Trump presidency just keeps inviting dissent.
This is outrageous: Not a single woman in the room as @Mike_Pence and @HouseGOP propose removing maternity coverage in #Trumpcare. pic.twitter.com/wwY6WsN206

Looking at the photo above, Clinton, whose 2015 book for teens was optimistically titled It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!, must wonder what happened to that world. As for her rising tweet profile, it’s not as if Clinton is alone in her increasingly vocal dissent — she can simply retweet the outrage of others when she’s too weary to create. (There’s no shortage of it out there.) Clinton recently shared the above tweet from Rep. Jim McGovern which heartbreakingly points out that there is not a single woman in the room with Mike Pence and the HouseGOP as they consider the so-called Trumpcare health care bill. We can’t see the other side of the room, but it’s a stunning image: not one woman to represent half the population in a decision that has major consequences for maternity coverage and every other health-related issue.
