During Season 11 of The Voice, Kawan DeBose performs (he does more than sing) the Marvin Gaye hit “Let’s Get It On” for his Blind Audition. He had Adam Levine at the first line “I’ve been really tryin’, baby.” After Levine lip syncs the first verse with Kawan, he turns his chair just in time to see Kawan throw his hat across the stage. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani follow in pursuit but it’s Adam who gives the most persuasive pitch.

After the dynamic performance, Adam Levine (who is still standing) is the first to speak to Kawan, a 30-year-old from Miami, Florida. “You’ve rendered me speechless, which is very hard to do.” But Adam keeps talking: “There’s no one who has been or is going to be so picky when it comes to finding the real thing. The only man that can do the kind of falsetto with the same kind of ease and kind of range is Prince.” (Prince’s most famous falsetto performance was probably on “Kiss” — listen here.) He adds, “You are the number one priority on Team Adam.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
