Powerless is a new TV series that’s about real people living in a Super Hero universe. The protagonist of the show is Emily Locke, who just landed her first job at Wayne Security, a company that makes products for defenseless bystanders living in a city overrun with Super Heroes and Super Villains. In the premiere episode ‘Wayne or Lose,’ Emily arrives for her first day on the job as Director of Research and Development.
Emily is portrayed by Vanessa Hudgens. The triple-threat actress is known for her roles on Grease Live! (Betty Rizzo), High School Musical (Gabriella Montez), Spring Breakers (Candy), and Thirteen (Noel), among others. Powerless airs Thursdays at 8:30pm on NBC.
