The Voice is back for Season 12 with coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani. One new face on the show is 16-year-old Anatalia Villaranda of Temecula, California. At the Blind Auditions she sings the high-energy Bruno Mars song “Runaway Baby” and — although it takes what must seem like eternity for Anatalia — all four coaches turn around. As Blake Shelton says (awkwardly), “A lot of people would have turned that energy into a colossal trainwreck and you turned it into like, ‘no, I’m going to keep beating you guys down until somebody hits their freakin’ button.’” Alicia Keys compliments Anatalia as “not just a singer but an artist…who’s not afraid to express herself.” And Gwen Stefani tries to rope Anatalia in with a promise to “talk about fashion.” Adam Levine tries to sway Anatalia with the highest compliment, “I do believe you could win this entire thing.”

After Adam asks the 16-year-old “What do I need to say in order for you to pick me,” Anatalia says “This is so hard. It’s like picking cake.” Adam is quick to say, “I have cake! I have tons of cake back stage.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm 0n NBC.
