One of the five young rappers vying for a contract with Jermaine Dupri and his So Def Records on The Rap Game is Al’Dreco Jones aka King Roscoe. The 13-year-old from Atlanta impresses Dupri right away. Dupri asks the contestants to introduce themselves via a freestyle rap. King Roscoe talks the opportunity to rap about his deceased father. Dupri is impressed when King Roscoe “talks to his dad” during the challenge.
King Roscoe’s father, Al’Dreco O’Neal Jones, was 27 years old when he was murdered in Augusta, Georgia in December 2002. According to the investigation, it appeared someone broke into the apartment where Jones was staying with his cousin, and shot Jones in the chest. (The homicide is still unsolved.) King Roscoe visits his father’s grave in his music video, “Daddy Can You Hear Me” (see video below). The Rap Game airs Fridays at 10pm on Lifetime.
