The Good Wife spinoff The Good Fight finds lawyer Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) on top of her game. A year has passed since she slapped Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies). Since then Diane has gotten her firm back in order with eight named partners but then, immediately after she announces her retirement, she loses all of her retirement money in a Ponzi scheme orchestrated by her good friends. And then, Democrat Diane learns that America hasn’t broken the political glass ceiling and Donald Trump is President of the United States. Baranski describes the dramatic pilot as her character’s “spectacular fall from grace.”
[The Good Fight is available on CBS All-Access where new episodes stream every Sunday]
The Good Fight pilot was filmed during the week of the election, and Baranski finds it interesting that it will air at a time when “the country collectively feels that it’s perhaps in free fall.” She adds, “I think a lot of people are feeling unmoored and insecure.” And Diane’s life “will reflect on the collective insecurity of people watching the show.” The Good Fight premieres on February 19 at 8pm on CBS.
