An episode of My 600-lb Life Transformed features Marla, a woman in Houston, Texas whose weight was estimated at 800 pounds. The only way she could get to a doctor’s appointment was to be transported by ambulance. She believes the death of her mother (when Marla was 25) triggered her weight gain. She is now 43. Similar to Teretha Hollis-Neely who was also featured on My 600-lb Life, Marla was studying health and nutrition while gaining an unhealthy amount of weight.
In the Transformed episode, Marla is interviewed nine months after having the weight loss surgery. She says she’s making progress and losing weight but she’s still reliant on her daughter Sierra as Marla cannot get out of bed by herself. TLC reports that Marla has a fiance in Sri Lanka whom she plans to meet there for their wedding. My 600-lb Life Transformed airs Wednesdays at 9pm on TLC.
