16-year-old singer Jackie Evancho will be the voice of Donald Trump’s first day of trying to “Make America Great Again.” Trump tapped the young singer to perform at his inauguration, traditionally a huge national spotlight that’s been filled in the past by such luminaries as Aretha Franklin. Evancho won’t be alone on stage — she’ll sing with Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli.
Evancho has seen big audiences before. Her first audition for America’s Got Talent back in 2010 has been viewed more than 13 million times (see below). Evancho, though she possesses an operatic voice, considers herself a “Classical Crossover” singer. She has put out six albums so far. Evancho is not just a crossover in that sense. She has performed in front of President Obama too — at the National Christmas Tree Lighting (see below). And she isn’t run-of-the-mill GOP in her political ideas either — Evancho is a big LGBT supporter with a sister who is transgender.
