The Odd Couple episode ‘Taffy Days’ is a tribute to Garry Marshall, creator of the original sitcom, who recently played Oscar Madison’s (Matthew Perry) father Walter before dying in July 2016. He was 81. A number of actors from Marshall’s previous popular sitcoms including Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days make cameo appearances in the episode.

Stanley is portrayed by Ron Howard. As an actor he’s best known for his roles on The Andy Griffith Show (Opie Taylor) and Garry Marshall’s Happy Days (Richie Cunningham). As a film director, he’s known for Frost/Nixon, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man, Apollo 13, Far and Away, Backdraft, Parenthood, Cocoon, and The Da Vinci Code movies starring Tom Hanks, among others. P.S. Howard was also the narrator of the hilarious Arrested Development. The Odd Couple airs Mondays at 9:30pm on CBS.
