On the Season 6 premiere of Total Divas, ‘Total Superstars’, while Trinity has a hair emergency and Brie gets upset when someone from her past leaks a secret about her, newbie Lana aka “The Ravishing Russian” makes her debut at Wrestlemania in front of a crowd of 100,000 in Dallas. Lana (born Catherine Joy “CJ” Perry in Florida) was raised in Latvia. She studied ballet there and when she returned to the US at the age of 17, she continued to dance for companies including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. In 2013, Perry signed with WWE under the ring name Lana, working with Alexander Rusev. Lana says: “It’s all entertainment…I play a bad guy and speak in a Russian accent.”
In real life, CJ and Rusev got married in Malibu in July 2016. Their wedding had a circus theme. The event included elephants, carnival games, a Ferris wheel and stilt walkers. Lana had three dresses custom-made (for the rehearsal, wedding, and reception) and then she was having a second wedding in Bulgaria where Rusev is from. Total Divas airs Wednesdays at 8pm on E!
