Ben and Ariel Zvaifler of San Francisco are the entrepreneurs behind PupBox. It’s a monthly subscription that delivers a box of 5-7 items including books, treats, chews, accessories and toys to help you train your new puppy. As the puppy grows – and its needs change – so do the contents in the box. A year’s subscription to PupBox costs $348 ($29 per month). A three-month subscription goes for $34/month. One box costs $39. All the human has to do is sign up online, provide details including the puppy’s age, breed and preferences, and then wait for the Pup Box to arrive. (Shipping is free.)
There’s biggest challenge is competition. There are tons of dog subscription box services (BarkBox, PupJoy, Petbox, Pawpack) but PupBox claims to be the only one targeting puppies. The Zvaiflers will pitch PupBox on Shark Tank (November 18) which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
