Christina Phillips was 22 years old when she appeared on My 600-lb Life in 2014. After having gastric bypass surgery on the show, she lost 525 lbs. Now the South Haven, Mississippi native faces a new problem. Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, the weight loss surgeon on the show, tells Christina she needs to put on weight in order to qualify for the follow-up skin removal surgery. Christina has admitted that since her surgery and losing so much weight, “Any time I see the scale go up, I tend to freak out and I will stop eating for a couple days.”

It’s been a difficult transition for Christina. In addition to losing the weight, she also divorced her husband. “In the beginning I had a lot of people doubt me,” says Christina. “I was in a really abusive relationship. And that definitely, I think, has had a negative impact on me. It hurts. In my heart, in my head.” While she knows she’s no longer 700 lbs., she says “I still feel that way. And I don’t know how to change how I feel.” The My 600-lb Life episode ‘Transformed: Christina’ will air on Wednesday, November 30 at 9pm on TLC.
