Taking a plot line out of the Real Housewives franchise, actress and author Carrie Fisher stirred the pot when she fessed up to a 40-year-old affair with her Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford. It’s the kind of move that will have at least half the audience hating on you if you’re a reality star, which Fisher both is and isn’t. She does lay bare her life, times and troubles in her various memoirs — including the most recent: The Princess Diarist. But the cameras don’t follow Fisher around anymore like they follow, say, Lisa Rinna.
So Fisher’s reality show is the slow-motion old-fashioned kind called a book. But it sure did make waves. Fisher was 19 at the time of the affair, a confused girl barely legal, and Ford was a 33-year-old man. He was also married with two children, which is the part where all the audience hatin’ starts. (Why’d you have to call him out after all these years? go the comments, and bring his kids into it?) Ford was then and remains a very private man, especially for a Hollywood icon. Talking on the Today show to promote her book, Fisher acknowledged Ford’s privacy and said “I feel really bad about doing that,” meaning telling the story. It’s a little hard to buy. Especially since Fisher kept her secret for years, even denying it last fall.
