In the Once Upon a Time episode, ‘The Other Shoe’, while Ashley (Jessy Schram) looks for her stepfamily and has a flashback to Cinderella at that life-changing ball, Regina (Lana Parrilla) tries to bribe Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer) in order to get more dirt on the Evil Queen. Along the way, Dr. Whale (Dr. Frankenstein) reappears. It’s been almost a year when we last saw the doctor in Storybrooke, when Zelena’s pregnancy mysteriously accelerated. Fun fact: Dr. Whale is named after the director of the 1931 film Frankenstein.
Dr. Whale/Dr. Frankenstein is portrayed by David Anders. He’s known for his roles on iZombie (Blaine DeBeers), The Vampire Diaries (John Gilbert), Necessary Roughness (Troy Cutler), 24 (Josef Bazhaev), Heroes (Adam Monroe), and Alias (Julian Sark), among others.
