On the second episode of Designated Survivor, the newly sworn-in President of the United States (Kiefer Sutherland) spends his first day on the job at a site that resembles the World Trade Center the day after 9/11. The new Commander-in-Chief tries to bring the country together amid great chaos and confusion. Turns out he wasn’t the only designated survivor.
Congresswoman Kimble Hookstraten is portrayed by Virginia Madsen. She’s known for her roles on American Gothic (Madeline), Witches of East End (Penelope), Monk (TK Jensen), American Dreams (Rebecca), and Frasier (Frasier’s girlfriend Cassandra), among others. Madsen is also well recognized for her role as Maya in the 2004 Oscar nominated Best Picture film Sideways. Designated Survivor airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC.
