During the first week of Blind Auditions on The Voice Season 11, the coaches and audience are delighted by the performance of Riley Elmore. The dapper young man sings the classic Sinatra song “The Way You Look Tonight.” Almost immediately, Adam Levine (wearing a similar suit and tie) hits his buzzer. Blake Shelton quickly follows. During the audition, Miley Cyrus looks at Shelton and says, “So amazing” but doesn’t hit her buzzer. Shelton continues to say things like “He’s the real deal…the real deal…” but the ladies don’t budge.
After the performance everyone is shocked to discover that Riley is just 16 years old. Adam Levine gets right to it (buttering up Riley): “I love that song; I sing it once a week.” When Riley says “This is definitely the lane I want to be in (meaning the crooner genre), Blake Shelton tries his best by saying, “If I had to come back as somebody, I want to come back as Dean Martin. He’s my hero.” But then Adam Levine approaches Riley on stage and starts coaching the teenager. He suggests that Riley loosen up. And together they sing the song again. The Voice airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
