On an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Oprah Winfrey visits former supermodel Angie Everhart. Everhart is known best from posing for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues in the 1990s and for posing nude for Playboy (February 2000). In 2009, Everhart became a mother — she had a son, Kayden, who is now 7 years old. In 2013, Everhart was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Everhart tells Oprah how she discovered the cancer. She was working out one day and felt something strange with her shoulder. She saw a doctor and had an MRI done. There was nothing wrong with her shoulder but they discovered a black spot in her throat. She describes that day as being the worst day of her life. But it made her appreciate life a lot more. “It made me a happier person because life is precious and I was just going through the motions and I think I got bored. Things just didn’t excite me before. And now, things really excite me a lot more.” Oprah: Where Are They Now? airs Saturdays at 10pm on OWN.
