Season 11 of The Voice has begun. During the first round of Blind Auditions, the four coaches — Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton — had the pleasure of listening to contestant Dana Harper. She took a risk and sang what she called “a guy song” — Nick Jonas’ “Jealous.” The risk paid off. All of the coaches except Miley Cyrus turned their chairs. Blake Shelton made his play not just with flattery but with a strong critique too. He pointed out, “what no girl has, I think, maybe anywhere, has that lower area where they can go and explore, and I think that’s something you should use to your advantage.”
Dana liked what she heard and chose Blake as her coach. After Dana announced her decision, Blake admitted that he knew getting her on his team “was a long shot.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
