In the Hallmark TV movie Summer in the City, Taylor Morgan’s (Julianna Guill) boss, Alyssa, is so impressed with Taylor she offers her the chance to manage a retail store in New York City. Taylor jumps on the opportunity. While Taylor struggles at first to fit in, she realizes that her Midwestern charm opens a lot of doors.
Alyssa is portrayed by Vivica A. Fox. She’s known for her roles on Empire (Cookie’s sister Carol), For Better or Worse (Angela), her ex-boyfriend 50 Cent’s Power (Jarita), and Meet the Browns (Tanya), among others. Smith is also recognized for her roles in the films Couples Retreat (Jennifer), Jumping the Broom (Shonda), Why Did I Get Married? (Angela), and The Whole Ten Yards (Julie). Summer in the City premieres on Hallmark on Saturday, August 13 at 9pm. It will air again August 14 at 3pm, August 20 at 7pm, August 21 at 11am, and August 27 at 11am.
