On Basketball Wives LA, the ladies travel together to Big Bear Lake at the request of Malaysia Pargo. While Shaunie O’Neal and Brandi Maxiell patch things up, Angel Brinks gets riled up after one of the ladies questions her relationship with the father of her 8-year-old son Azari. Azari’s father, Angel’s husband, committed suicide when Angel was 9 months pregnant with Azari, she says.

On the show, Angel has a talk with Azari about his father. (She recently overheard Azari tell someone that he doesn’t have a father.) Angel says: “Azari’s never had a stable father figure in his life and even with Tyreke, he’s always in New Orleans.” Azari calls Tyreke Evans — his mother’s ex-boyfriend — his stepdad, although the two were never married. Tyreke is a professional basketball player in the NBA. Before being drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the 2009 NBA draft, Evans played college basketball at the University of Memphis. In 2010 he was named NBA Rookie of the Year. In 2013 the 6’6” tall guard was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans where he is now. In February he underwent successful surgery on his right knee. He missed the rest of the 2015-2016 season. Basketball Wives LA airs Sundays at 8pm on VH1.
