Actress Marilu Henner is best known for her role as Elaine Nardo on the popular 1970s sitcom Taxi. She’s appearing on TV again as a celebrity contestant on Dancing with the Stars (her professional dancer partner is Derek Hough). In addition to acting, Henner is also an author. She’s written several books about healthy living and one about her “superior autobiographical memory,” Total Memory Makeover: Uncover Your Past, Take Charge of Your Future. Her most recent book discusses her marriage with her husband of ten years, Michael Brown, and how she helped him beat cancer without chemotherapy or radiation, Changing Normal: How I Helped My Husband Beat Cancer.
In 2003, Brown was diagnosed with bladder cancer, and then lung cancer. According to Changing Normal: “Marilu set about finding a path for Michael that would use the best of Eastern and Western medicine to beat his cancers and return Michael to optimal health.” Dancing With the Stars premieres Monday, September 12 at 8pm on ABC.
