The TV movie The Planet of the Sharks is set in the future, when glacial melting has covered 98% of earth’s landmass. A group of humans have survived and find refuge on a floating village. It’s considered the safest place in the world until they discover that the fish population has disappeared. Well, except for the sharks. One of the survivors, Shayne Nichols, explains: “What you’re left with is a bunch of predators with nothing to eat underwater so they look for food on top of the water…and that’s us.”
Shayne is portrayed by Stephanie Beran who enjoyed her time filming Planet of the Sharks in Cape Town, South Africa (see below). Beran is known her roles in the films Battle Force (Caterina) and P-51 Dragon Fighter (Rachel McKee), with her actor/producer husband Scott Martin. Planet of the Sharks premieres on Syfy on Wednesday, July 27 at 9pm.
